  • Do you have any openings?
    Yes, some counselors currently have openings. Please complete our "Contact Us" form indicating the counselor you would like to work with. You can also check current availability by using our online scheduling link:
  • Do you accept Insurance?
    Yes. We are In-Network with many of the plans under Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, CareSource, Cigna, Medical Mutual, Optum, United Behavioral Health, and UMR. To verify that we are in-network within your plan, we recommend that you call your Insurance company to verify your mental health benefits. Please be sure to also ask if you have a mental health deductible, copayment or co-insurance. Insurance deductibles and copayments are set by your Insurance company and your employer's plan. We are unable to adjust or waive any of these fees; therefore, we highly recommend that you call your Insurance company before your first session.
  • What you should know prior to using your mental health Insurance benefits?
    Your Insurance company requires that you have a diagnosable mental illness before we can submit claims on your behalf. Your Insurance company may request a copy of your treatment plan, progress notes, and/or other information from your case file. Your Insurance company may limit how many minutes per session and/or the number of sessions per year that they will cover. Your Insurance company may require electronic claims submission, request scans, uploaded documents, request we fax documents or other information from your file. This information will contain some of your Protected Health Information (PHI) such as, but not limited to, your name, address, date of birth, Identification numbers and diagnosis. At their discretion, your Insurance company may audit our records and review information contained in your case file.   • What forms of payment do you accept?
    Cash, Check, Debt, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and Health Savings Accounts are all acceptable forms of payment. Payment is due in advance, 2 days, 48-hours prior to your appointment time.
  • What should I expect?
    At your first visit, we will work hard to help you feel comfortable. You will have an opportunity to share your story and ask questions. We will want to know what your goals are for coming in for counseling. We will share with you information about our practice including the different types of therapy we offer. After your initial assessment is completed, we will begin working on your personalized treatment plan.
  • Can counseling help me?
    Yes! Counseling provides a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about how you’re feeling. We’ll work together to identify the causes of your struggles, develop healthier coping skills, and address negative thinking and behaviors. Periodically, we’ll review your goals to track progress, celebrate improvements, and set new goals.
  • How can I get the most out of counseling?
    You will gain the most out of counseling by making it a priority, which means making a commitment to attend sessions regularly. It will help to keep in mind that counseling is not a "quick fix." In fact, it may take a little time in treatment for you to see significant or consistent change. Be aware that building a trusting relationship with your counselor may initially be challenging, especially if you have had difficulty trusting others in the past. It is not uncommon for it to take some time for you to feel comfortable talking and sharing your story. By practicing new skills outside of your counseling sessions and being willing to complete assignments. Being honest with yourself and others about how you feel while working through challenges. By not giving up! Perseverance, "steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success." (New Oxford American Dictionary)
  • Do I have to be a Christian to attend SLCC?
    No! Everyone is welcome. We provide professional clinical counseling services unless you request Faith-based Christian counseling.
